At SUNS our product is footwear, yet our mission transcends our brand. As parents, SUNS founders Craig, Jeanette, Lisa and Dave have borne witness to the detrimental impact that bullying, negativity, and violence can have on kids, and themselves! Two of their daughters came up with a plan and started an initiative at their school to increase and spread positivity through a program based around being kind to one another.

It caught on amongst the other students at their school and other schools in the area. We were inspired by their efforts and made it SUNS mission to join the movement to make the world a brighter, happier place through simple acts of kindness.

The idea is very simple - an act of kindness, no matter how small can make someone’s day better. The theory is that if we all make an effort to be nicer to each other, through what we call AOKs (acts of kindness), the outcome has a ripple effect of spreading smiles!

Volunteer in your community

Hold the door for a stranger.

Tell a friend you appreciate them.

Send a thank you note to your teacher.

Take a co-worker to lunch.

Tell a family member you love them.

Help a friend with a project.

And the list goes on!

The culture that SUNS promotes isn’t about ignoring problems, its about doing the little things that everyone can to help us get through those cloudy days. It’s about remembering the sunlight right behind the rain, that helps us feel empowered to perform acts of kindness that can help make our world brighter each day.

You can make a difference by taking the first step. Even the smallest AOK can change the world.

Each pair comes with a UV keychain light?

Want to have fun indoors too? Every pair of SUNS comes with a UV keychain light that can be used to temporarily “customize” or “draw” on the shoes again and again! The UV rays of the light activate the light sensitive dyes used in the same way sunshine does. We can’t wait to see what cool ways you’ll customize your shoes, so please share your creations on Instagram with #mysuns!

We care about you and the world we share, so we took care to ensure that all our footwear is made of an eco-friendly non-toxic color change material. In fact, all components in our footwear meet the stringent California Prop 65 mandate for ensuring no harmful materials are used in children’s footwear. In short, we’ve worked hard to help you feel great in our shoes!

Bonus: Our packaging is made from primarily recycled material printed on with vegetable based inks and we operate a lean and minimally eco-invasive operation.
